The Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics™ Forum 2016 is a result of our successful deliberations at the 3rd Asian Elephants in the Wild Conferences and 4th Balipara Foundation Awards. We have realized that our scope of conversations needs to broaden to include other powerful drivers of the issues at hand, these include, climate change, development, depletion of essential natural resources like water and the overwhelming influence of technology and culture on successful conservation efforts. We will continue to use the Asian Elephant as a mascot of our efforts but by broadening the conversation and expanding the stakeholders at the table we hope to create a larger conservation footprint.

Minnie the elephant has taken her last walk through the streets of Springfield, Delaware County.

The Springfield Republican Party chairman announced the decision this week, noting that local GOP officials had sat atop Minnie, a South Asian elephant, in the town’s Independence Day parade for more than three decades, and the creature was beloved by thousands of spectators, particularly children.
