An elephant never forgets, and you might remember Saturday’s “Dodo Heroes” on Animal Planet for a while.

This weekend’s episode spotlights the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world, which plays host to an adorable baby elephant reunion. Yes, the trunked ones all remember each other and there’s a ton (literally, with these guys) of hugging.

That’s already crazy adorable, right? And then you meet Malkia.

The baby is the fourth to be born in the park, and the fourth offspring of 16-year-old mother Farina, whose first two calves were born while she was at Hannover Zoo in Germany.

The father is 18-year-old Po Chin, who has been at Pairi Daiza since 2010, and who has already sired two calves there – Ta Wan in 2017 and Malee in February this year.

Baby elephants are everything. You will absolutely agree with us after watching this video of an adorable Jumbo that is doing the rounds of social media. The 25-second clip features a baby elephant chasing a dog. But wait for the best part. The elephant, thereafter, trips on wet mud and somehow manages itself - that moment in the video is not just super cute but also hilarious.

Elephants are basically cute, cuddly giants who if treated with respect have a whole lot of love to give.

Take a look at this baby elephant who simply wouldn’t let his caretaker work. It wants to play so bad, it nudges and tries to coax its caretaker to come play with him. It’s almost as if he is saying “Pleeeeeaaaseee? Pretty pleeeease?”

Waking kids sometimes requires the gentlest persuasion, whether with loving hands or – in the case of momma elephants – a long, soft trunk.

The accompanying footage, captured in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, shows that humans and elephants have a lot in common when it comes to convincing young ones to rise and shine.
